Tailgate Lot News Digest #5

Believe it or not, no alcohol can ruin a tailgate.  Just ask the Nebraska fans that suffered that fate below.

Nebraska tailgating spot quiet after arrests

A popular Nebraska football tailgating spot was unusually quiet for the weekend game that took place one week after a burst of violence that led to 13 arrests.

This week, Indian Center officials ran a fence along the perimeter and posted signs that said, "No walk-ins, alcohol or drugs." Police officers were also on hand.

Tailgating comes to Shreveport's Red River District

Hundreds have gathered in the Red River District to watch the game. It's SPAR's first ever tailgate experience. The event features a giant screen of the game, bars were open, food vendors are there and of course there's fun for the kids, too. Organizers are happy with the crowd and see fun, family events like this to be the Red River District's future.

SPAR says the next tailgate will be held on October 25 for the LSU game and will have more vendors and kids activities.

Don't Get Sacked on Game Day: Execute Healthy Tailgating Plays

Football season is here, and we are ready to gear up for some fun and delicious tailgating. Whether your pregame party is at home or at the game, healthy planning is essential in order to keep your weight from stepping out of bounds.

You don't have to pass on tailgating in fear of sabotaging your waistline. Contrary to what most people think, healthy tailgating can be done. Let's be honest, who wants to deprive themselves of pizza or buffalo chicken wing dip? It's okay to enjoy some of your favorite foods, but try to be mindful not to overindulge.

Tailgate Lot News Digest #2

Here's some tailgating news from around the country, and an added video at the end

Packers Tailgate Tour Kicks Off Today

A number of present and former Green Bay Packers players will embark on a five-day trip across the state of Wisconsin on the annual Tailgate Tour today. The coach bus will make its first stop this afternoon in Escanaba.

Indoor sports complex to displace NC State Red-lot tailgaters

Due to the construction of a new $14 million indoor practice facility, about 700 parking spaces in the Stadium Southeast Red Lot at Carter-Finley Stadium will be unavailable for use during the 2014 N.C. State football season.

N.C. State Athletics has offset the loss of spots caused by the new facility by identifying additional parking inventory around the stadium complex to accommodate the displaced tailgaters, according to Michael Lipitz, senior associate athletics director at N.C. State, though they might not be as close to the stadium.

FSU's spring game beautiful for fans

Florida State’s spring game perhaps felt more like summer.

Temperatures in the mid-80s, sunny skies and the promise of seeing last year’s national champions lace up was enough for thousands of FSU fans to make it out to Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The annual intra-squad game between the Seminoles’ offenses and defenses always feeds a hungry fan base eager for another season of college football.

ASU may ban kegs at football games

Last call may already be over when it comes to beer kegs outside Sun Devil Stadium.

Arizona State University is considering banning beer kegs for all fans during tailgating at home football games as part of a larger effort to improve safety and discourage alcohol abuse.

And here's a tailgating FAIL:

Spend a lot on a Tailgate? How's 3 MILLION sound?

Super Bowl XLVIII is just around the corner, and so is the opportunity of indulging in the world’s most expensive tailgate experience in New York City. The luxurious Chatwal New York Hotel, which is conveniently located just steps away from Times Square, is wooing well-heeled Super Bowl fans with an over the top tailgate party indulgence. Though tailgate parties usually occur in the parking lots at stadiums, the folks at Chatwal have given a posh twist to the term by hosting a $3 million indoor celebration for the upcoming American football game.

This is an ideal opportunity for those who are looking forward for just another reason to celebrate with family and close friends, after splurging on the New Year bash. The person who dares to foot the $3 million bill will be offered a weekend stay at the hotel’s Barrymore Suite. Spread over the whole tenth floor, the 4,500 square feet suite includes four bedrooms and four and a half baths as well as a 1,000 feet outdoor terrace. At The Chatwal New York Hotel, the Director’s Suite and the Producer’s Suite are nothing short of pure luxury. Both contain a sitting room, dining room, kitchenette, and two full bathrooms, and the latter, a private roof deck. The hotel combines both the suites, turning them into the Barrymore Suite for those keen to have the entire Penthouse to themselves.
